Consider This
God never says for us to serve him, because, just because. He lays it out where we can understand it. He gives both the good and the bad, and invites us to Consider This. Do you want life or death? Do you want love or hate? Do you want heaven or hell? It’s a no brainer, but still he gives us the right and power of choice. Yes, you should serve God. When it all comes down, Jesus is still King and Lord, and we are more than conquerors through him who loves us.
What Happened When The Old Man Died?
Here is a Bible sermon from Second Chronicles chapter 24 about two men; Jehoida, and Joash. The old man looked after the boy and set him up in his kingdom, but sadly, his kindness wasn’t remembered, and his goodness went unnoticed, at least by the young cocky chap, who had been given everything. Let us appreciate not only the goodness of god, but also, that which has been bestowed upon us by those who have gone before us, and who have blazed the trail of righteousness and holiness, by sacrificing so we could have the foundation for Christian living, and the comfort and means with which to be able to get the word of God out effectively to reach this generation for Christ.
God To The Rescue
God will let man run his mouth and even blaspheme to a certain point. Then, if and when he has to, he will step in with severe judgment. This teaching session from Second Kings chapters 18 and 19 reveals one of the most extreme cases of this. Sennacherib, king of Assyria, purposed to invade Jerusalem and destroy it. After sending at least two military campaigns to warn them and put them in fear, God had had enough. Just one swwop of a mighty angel destroys some one hundred and eighty five thousand of the mighty host of the enemies of the Lord. God is loving and forgiving, but he doesn’t play. And those who try it will always end up losing. This might require a strong cup of coffee, or even a Nitro for the faint of heart. But, the one who rescued his people in king Hezekiah’s day will rescue you right now from a life of sin and shame.
This Is Still The House Of God
People in the Old Testament had no problem knowing and recognizing the house of god. Whether you were talking about the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, or the temple which king Solomon built. But, there is a new age teaching out now which says that the building where we meet is no longer that important. And even though we are the real Church, and our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost, the place where we meet to worship and praise God, and take our burdens before him in his sanctuary and to the altar, is still considered to be a holy place, even in the dispensation of the new covenant age of grace. Jesus, the apostles and early church forefathers, and the saints of old who brought about the latter day outpouring of the great Pentecostal revival of the 18 and 19 hundreds, all recognize the importance of the house of god.
